Christmas in Vienna

The beginning of the Advent season marks the preparations for Christmas Eve. The many Christmas markets all over Vienna expect their visitors with sweet delights such as Christmas Stollen, hot punch and mulled wine but also with an unusual and often exceptional offer in handicrafts and the odd curiosity.

Five weeks before Christmas Eve, the most festive and - for children - happiest time of the year begins with Magic of Advent. From 14 November the Christmas tree in front of the City Hall is aglow with hundreds of lights. Visiting the Christmas market on the square in front of the City Hall (Rathausplatz) is an integral part of the Advent season for people in Vienna and for visitors from all over the world. Being explicitly children friendly the Christmas market is a dream come true for its small visitors and presents them with an unforgettable experience.
